**Elon Musk Denies Grok Generates Illegal Content Amid AI-Generated Image Scandal**

BRUSSELS — In a recent statement, Elon Musk has categorically denied allegations that X's artificial intelligence tool, Grok, generates illegal content. The claim comes as the platform faces mounting scrutiny from both the EU and the U.K. over the appearance of AI-generated images that are undressed and sexualized.

Musk, X's powerful owner, took to the platform on Wednesday to address concerns surrounding the issue. In a bid to allay fears, he emphasized that users – not Grok itself – are responsible for any illicit content generated on the platform. He also insisted that X is fully compliant with all applicable laws.

"I'm not aware of any naked underage images generated by Grok," Musk said in his statement. "Literally zero." When asked about Grok's operating principle, he explained that the AI tool is programmed to obey the laws of any given country or state. He added that while there may be instances where adversarial hacking of Grok prompts unexpected behavior, X promptly fixes the issue once identified.

Musk's remarks follow a series of warnings from regulatory bodies in both Europe and the U.K. The EU has described the appearance of nonconsensual, sexually explicit deepfakes on X as "illegal," "appalling" and "disgusting." Ofcom, the U.K.'s communications watchdog, launched an investigation into X on Monday.

U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer also chimed in on Wednesday, stating that while the platform is taking steps to ensure full compliance with relevant laws, the government will not back down from holding X accountable for any breaches. Henna Virkkunen, the EU's tech chief, warned earlier this week that X must quickly "fix" its AI tool or face consequences under the bloc's Digital Services Act.

In a related development, the European Commission last week ordered X to retain all data and documents related to Grok until the end of the year. Just 11 days ago, Musk responded to concerns about the platform by stating that anyone using Grok to create illegal content would suffer the same consequences as if they uploaded such content directly.

X's safety team also issued a warning last week, stating that it takes action against any form of illegal activity – including child sexual abuse material. The statement underscores Musk's insistence that X is committed to ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
