**THREATMODELER ACQUIRES COMPETING THREAT MODELING STARTUP IRIOUSK**

Updated 20:04 EST / January 08, 2026

In a move that is set to shake up the cybersecurity landscape, ThreatModeler Software Inc., a leading provider of cybersecurity posture analysis software, has announced the acquisition of IriusRisk SL, a Spain-based rival in the threat modeling space. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Threat modeling, for those unfamiliar with the concept, is a crucial process in which developers create detailed diagrams of an application's components and vulnerabilities, along with information on how hackers might exploit these weaknesses as part of a cyberattack. However, this time-consuming task can be especially daunting for large companies with dozens of applications to analyze.

ThreatModeler has been at the forefront of streamlining this process, leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) features built into its software to automate certain aspects of diagram creation and related tasks such as prioritizing vulnerabilities by severity and generating remediation suggestions. The platform can even visualize cybersecurity flaws in an application and provide recommendations for addressing them.

**IRIOUSK: A COMPLEMENTARY PLATFORM**

IriusRisk, on the other hand, offers a competing threat modeling platform that automates similar tasks with its own set of unique features not found in ThreatModeler's offerings. One such feature is Bex AI, a tool that analyzes feature descriptions stored in Atlassian Corp.'s Jira platform and flags any issues they contain. For instance, Bex AI could identify proposed features that might weaken an application's encryption mechanism.

IriusRisk also takes a broader approach to threat modeling by allowing companies to map out not only cybersecurity risks but also other potential vulnerabilities such as data management regulations like GDPR and HIPAA. Moreover, the platform enables visualization of supply chain risks through its built-in diagramming features.

**ACQUISITION TO ACCELERATE THREATMODELER'S PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT**

The acquisition of IriusRisk by ThreatModeler is expected to accelerate product development for both companies. With majority ownership by Invictus Growth Partners, a private equity firm that acquired ThreatModeler in 2024 for $60 million, and Paladin Capital Group, a venture fund that led a $29 million round for IriusRisk in 2022, the combined entity is well-positioned to drive innovation in the threat modeling space.

**A NEW CHAPTER IN THREAT MODELING**

As the cybersecurity landscape continues to evolve, the acquisition of IriusRisk by ThreatModeler marks an important milestone in the development of more effective and efficient threat modeling solutions. With both companies working together under one roof, the future of threat modeling is looking brighter than ever.
