The Horrifying Hack of Kido Nursery Chain: A Threat to Childhood Innocence
A shocking cyber attack has left a UK nursery chain, Kido, reeling as a hacking group called Radiant has compromised its sensitive data, threatening to release the profiles of 10 children on the dark web. The malicious group has also hinted at releasing 100 employees' private data unless a ransom is paid.
The breach occurred when another software company, Famly, which is primarily used by childcare organisations, was hacked. Kido's data was then accessed and exploited by Radiant, who posted the personal information of the 10 children on a dark web page. The data shared includes names, photographs, birthdate, birthplace, gender, carer information, and contact details.
One mother received a threatening phone call from an individual claiming to be part of the hacking group, stating that her child's information would be posted unless she pressured Kido to pay the ransom. This heartless act has left many parents feeling helpless and outraged, with one parent expressing frustration towards those responsible for the attack.
"We're in the digital age now where everything's online and I think you go into this knowing that there is a risk that at some point this could happen," said Sean, whose child attends a Kido nursery. "Any parents that are getting angry should probably direct their anger towards the scumbags that have actually done it. You only see the people that run your nursery, and all of them are great. And these poor people are the ones getting the brunt of it on the front line."
The Dark Web Connection
Radiant has managed to post their threat on a dark web page, where they have shared a "Data Leakage Roadmap" detailing their next steps. The group claims that they hired other individuals to make the threatening phone calls and respond to inquiries.
When asked if they feel any guilt about their actions, the group responded with a chilling statement: "We do it for money, not for anything other than money. I'm aware we are criminals. This isn't my first time and will not be my last time."
A Call to Action
Law enforcement agencies, including the London Metropolitan Police, are investigating this heinous crime. It is essential that those responsible are brought to justice and held accountable for their actions.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks associated with cyber attacks and the importance of cybersecurity measures in protecting sensitive data. As we continue to navigate the digital age, it is crucial that we remain vigilant and take steps to safeguard our personal information.
