# Ukraine Confident Poland Will Keep Funding Starlink at the Front

Kyiv has expressed confidence that a solution will be found to continue Poland's funding of 30,000 Starlink internet systems for Ukraine, despite Poland's presidential veto on extending state financial support to Ukrainian refugees.

Poland is the largest donor of SpaceX's satellite internet devices to Ukraine, with tens of thousands of units used across the front line as a crucial communication tool resistant to hacking and jamming. Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukraine's deputy prime minister and digitalisation minister, expressed his confidence in finding a solution to continue supporting this project during an interview with Reuters.

"While we also have other satellite communication systems, none can match the scale and cost of Starlink," Fedorov said. "We are communicating with our colleagues and I'm sure that all will be well, that we will find a solution to continue supporting this project."

Polish President Karol Nawrocki's veto on Monday has sparked concerns about the future of Ukraine's access to vital communication technology. However, Nawrocki's spokesperson told Reuters that the basis for paying for Starlink could still be restored if parliament adopts a bill proposed by the president by the end of next month.

The Polish government had provided financial support to Ukrainian refugees under legislation that was vetoed by President Nawrocki. This legislation also provided the legal basis for providing Starlink to Ukraine. Despite this, Fedorov remains optimistic about finding an alternative solution.

"We are developing an 'internal network' to ensure the existence of backup options in the event of a Starlink outage," he said. "Technical failures should not bring down the front line or any important sphere of activity. That is why we must always have options B, C, D, and so on."

Starlink systems have suffered several outages affecting military operations in Ukraine, both as a result of technical issues and deliberate decisions by SpaceX CEO Elon Musk to restrict Ukrainian operations.

Despite these challenges, Fedorov remains confident that Ukraine will find a way to continue accessing the critical communication technology it needs to stay connected. The situation highlights the importance of international cooperation and support for countries facing the challenges of modern warfare.
