Proton 10.0-2 Gets Small Release Candidate Update for Linux, SteamOS / Steam Deck

Valve has released a small update to the current testing build of Proton 10.0-2, ahead of the upcoming stable release for Linux, SteamOS, and Steam Deck. The first Beta for Proton 10 was launched back in April, with a Release Candidate arriving in late June. To test out this latest update, users must manually install Proton 10 from their Steam Library and then opt into the Beta on Proton 10 to access the Release Candidate build.

According to developer Arek Hiler's update on the GitHub issue, the new changes introduced in the Proton 10.0-2 Release Candidate include:

  • No specific details were provided regarding these changes

It is worth noting that the Release Candidate changes are in addition to the initial updates that arrived with the Proton 10 Beta. Valve has not yet disclosed an official release date for Proton 10, stating only that it will be released when they feel it's ready.

The stable version of Proton 10.0-2 is expected to eventually replace Proton 9.0-4 as the main default version. However, no further information was provided regarding this transition process.
