IGP Jammu Zone Inspects Cyber Police Station

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti, led a high-level inspection team to the Cyber Police Station in Jammu on Saturday. The visit was aimed at evaluating the station's operational readiness and infrastructure.

Attending the inspection were senior officers including Jatinder Singh Johar, Incharge Director, Police Telecommunication, Jammu, and Kameshwar Puri, Incharge Cyber Police Station. Other officials from the police department also joined the visit to get an update on the station's performance.

Review of Pending Cases and Training

During the inspection, the IGP reviewed pending cases being handled by the Cyber Police Station. He also observed training sessions conducted for Investigating Officers (IOs) on handling cybercrimes. The officers were seen undergoing rigorous training to enhance their skills in tracking down online fraudsters.

Infrastructure and Advanced Forensic Tools

The IGP assessed the station's capabilities in handling cybercrimes like online fraud, hacking, and cyber-terrorism. He was briefed by SP Kameshwar Puri on ongoing operations and challenges faced by the Cyber Police Station. The IGP expressed his desire to enhance the station's capabilities using advanced computer forensic software and hardware.

Need for Public Awareness Campaigns

The IGP stressed the need for continuous skill upgradation, integration of advanced forensic tools, and real-time monitoring systems. He emphasized public awareness campaigns on cyber safety and ordered improvements in infrastructure, including modern workstations and secure data storage. The officer also assured that full technical support will be provided by the Police Telecommunication wing.

The SP Puri reaffirmed the station’s commitment to leveraging technology for public service. He stated that the Cyber Police Station is dedicated to keeping the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir safe from online threats.

IGP's Directives

The IGP's directives aim to enhance Jammu Zone's cybercrime response and prevention capabilities. The inspection has highlighted the need for constant vigilance and proactive measures in combating online crimes.

The visit concluded with an assurance from Jatinder Singh Johar that full technical support will be provided by the Police Telecommunication wing. SP Kameshwar Puri also emphasized the commitment of the Cyber Police Station to protect its citizens from cyber threats. The IGP's directives are expected to significantly improve the cybercrime response and prevention capabilities in Jammu Zone.
