Nolte: Disgraced Ryan Lizza Out at Politico After Sex Scandal

Disgraced Ryan Lizza Out at Politico After Sex Scandal

Ryan Lizza, the erstwhile Chief Washington Correspondent for Politico, has left his position amidst a sex scandal that has tarnished his once-promising career. The 44-year-old journalist, known for his left-leaning views and associations with prominent liberal outlets, has been accused of misconduct with two women in the past.

Lizza's departure from Politico comes after he was credibly accused of harassment by his then-fiancée, Olivia Nuzzi, a fellow journalist at New York Magazine. The scandal broke in October 2024, when Nuzzi filed a court complaint against Lizza, alleging that he had explicitly threatened to make public personal information about her and had engaged in various forms of cyberstalking.

The allegations against Lizza are particularly egregious given his previous dismissal from the New Yorker in 2017 for "improper sexual conduct." The circumstances surrounding his departure from CNN in 2020, when he was not fired despite being caught masturbating during a Zoom meeting, have also raised questions about Politico's handling of internal complaints.

Lizza has since launched his own publication, Telos, on Substack, a platform that allows authors to monetize their content directly. This move has sparked concern among some observers, who worry that Lizza will now be able to harass women without fear of retribution or consequences.

"I recently left Politico, where I've served as the Chief Washington Correspondent since 2019," Lizza wrote in a statement on his Substack. "The main reason? [Politico's] style of political coverage is not meeting the unprecedented moment of democratic peril we are facing." Critics have interpreted this statement as a euphemism for Lizza's own personal struggles and inability to adapt to changing expectations.

"The good news is that we can add Ryan Lizza to our ever-growing list of Regime Media elites who have committed career suicide or just plain given up due to Trump Derangement Syndrome: What a glorious, glorious time to be alive," wrote John Nolte in his blog. "It's a testament to the toxic culture that pervades the liberal media and the dangers of unchecked power and privilege."

In related news, New York Magazine has placed Nuzzi on leave after she was caught trying to pursue a personal relationship with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. while reporting on him.
